EDIT: The issue is FIXED! ... ugh. It turned out to be a simple matter of unplugging the LAN cable running from my PC to our router. I guess they don't like to be plugged in at the same time?
I can't believe it was so simple ;_;
Hey all.
I'm currently waiting for Telkom to activate our phone and ADSL line after a move, and my cousin was nice enough to lend me his dongle with a MTN Uncapped package. It is a E367.
My only issue right now is that it doesn't seem to work at all on my desktop machine. MTN Online installs and the device is picked up, heck.. I'm even able to get short bursts of internet.. but.. other than that I get nothing. Basically, I click connect and it establishes the connection but no pages or traffic of any kind happens. Random bursts of activity seem to take place in which a few pages will load quickly or a program such as Steam will manage to connect.. and then nothing again.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 (And yes, I know it is high time to upgrade! I'll be doing so at the end of the month.
)
However, on my Dad's laptop, the dongle seems to work fine. (My dad's lappy is Windows 8) Pages load and I only seem to have the occassional few seconds of downtime now and then. Practically the reverse of what is happening on my desktop. I thought about signal, and that is definitely not the case as the laptop maintains connection in the exact same room as my desktop. I've tried updating the firmware.. and nothing.
Any ideas? I'm under the impression that either XP or a program that I have installed doesn't get along with the dongle. I'm at a loss at what to try removing though.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
