MTN E800 Express card network locked?

I just received a E800 card with a new MTN data contract for my wife. I want to use the Express crad in my Laptop and let her use my old Vodacom card. The problem is that my Vodacom sim does not work in the new MTN E800 data card? As far as I know ALL data cards may not be network locked. What else could be the problem.

Have you configured the correct APN for VC?

No, how do I do that? I preume I must create a Vodacom profile... then what? I have used my Vodacom card in an older MTN card without any setting changes or problems.
