Good day,
This thread is for all those people who are stuggling to pick up 3G signal and are only getting EDGE even though you are in a 3G reception zone. I have discovered a simple solution for blackberries that support 3G reception to bypass the phone picking up EDGE and force 3G, this worked like a charm for me. I have a Blackberry 9900 Bold.
WARNING: if you go out of a 3G reception area, your phone will lose signal and keep searching for 3G until in a 3G reception area. It will not automatically go back to EDGE.
Here are the steps:
Goto: Options > Networks & Connections > Mobile Network
Then change the setting:
Network Selection Mode: Automatic
Change it to 'Manual'.
Your phone will search, and you will see MTN brings up 2 options to choose from:
* MTN 2G H
* MTN 3G H
Select the 'MTN 3G H' and wait for it to connect.
There you go. Permanent 3G.
To change back, just choose the automatic setting again.
Hope this helps somewhat.
