I bought a new mtn sim, added 100MB bundle, got the settings, called mtn customer service to activate gprs on my phone, but still no gprs.

Error I am getting is :

GPRS:
GPRS not available. Please check network services.

any help pls. I did save the settings as default on my phone, Nokia 6600.

with my vodacom (when I change the settings to vodacom's ) it works.

Dont worry.... if u just wait within 24hours it will activate...
just keep restarting your phone... its not ur phones problem...
its just the network is working on ur transaction

Altrernitivly check your GPRS modem settings , on a nokia its under settings ,gprs modem settings. Go to your GPRS access point, edit the access point, enter "internet" and go back to main menu , switch off and then on again and try.

By default MTN loads gprs on all contract sim cards.

Well atleast Vodacom does not charge in increments

Please explain "increments".

MTN charges per byte on contract and pre-paid.

Pre-paid reserves chunks of your balance until the session is finished, then returns the balance.

I have had this problem of 'GPRS: No access' on my SE T630 for a week now. Since my mailbox was upgraded. Its pissingme off beeg time. And this is not a new service, coz I use it quite a lot on my PC via BT.

GPRS Problems

Hi

What sort of problems. Are you using the handset as a modem ?

Data Charges on MTN

Hi

Just to clear up the confusion.

Billing increments in bundle (Data Bundle loaded) is in bytes

No Bundle or out of bundle increments is per cent. To put this into perspective 1c = 5.12kb on the default of R2 per Meg.

Thanks
