Can someone explain this.
KZN South Coast.
Microsoft Lumia 640.
On Afrihost.
Set to 4G - speed test results. 2Mbps.
Set To 3G - 12Mbps.
Signal for both tests is between 4 and 5 bars using the same server.

So how can H+ be faster than LTE?

Thanks for your insights.

LTE runs on a little bit of refarmed spectrum (1800mhz) in this country (well, MTN and Vodacom anyway, Telkom has got accest to 2300mhz band). That means LTE cant run optimally because it has so little spectrum available. 3G runs on 2100 which is dedicated to 3G network and in some areas runs on 900mhz also togetehre with 2G.

Ok makes sense. So all non Telkom LTE is a bit of a sneaky one. Sounds great but actual speeds may not be faster at all until government frees up spectrum.

Well, it would depend on the load that is on the tower that you are logged into for LTE. If there are few LTE connections then you should see good speed. If there are many, the speed will be lower. 3G has more spectrum available to it, so more can use it at one time, even though LTE is more efficient. LTE connection will be more stable when it comes to speed variations and pink I would say, even if the speed is lower.
