Hi All

I've got a MTN branded e220, which I got on contract:sick:.
Now that my contract is up:D, I'd like to move over to vodacom PAYG - will the sim work in this modem?

thanks

Yes. Just get the latest generic version of the Huawei dashboard software.

I have one setup already, just have to go to a MTN outlet and ask them to set it up for you. Just be friendly with the service guy as you are using a Vodacom card...

I have a MTN E220 with a Vodacom SIM and it is working fine. I see that when a try and update the software it wants to connect to a mtn.co.za link. Any chance that if I do update the software via the MTN link that MTN can lock the modem and I won't be able to use Vodacom SIM?

Had an MTN modem - used vodacom prepaid sim in it. Now have vodafone modem with mtn sim in it. Or whatever network I choose wherever I am.

Beginning of the year I accidentaly flashed my Dads MTN E220 with Vodacom firmware from VCs site. Worked perfectly, I even flashed it back to MTN and no problems.

I tried the generic but my Dad did not like it.

FYI, I got it working - downloaded the VCM lite software from VC website.
I can now use either sim card, with appropriate dash and it works well...
