Gigaba said South Africa had not adjusted VAT since 1993, and that it was low compared to the country’s peers.

All the other taxes are way over instead. Can we lower those as well to match our peers?

As long as it's in line with the VAT percentage increase, then I see no problem with it.

Vodacom have sent me a notice basically stating the same. Not an exact increase figure yet, though, so I suspect it was a mass message. Will have to see by what amount things increase.

The title is misleading. The VAT-excl. item price remains as is, or it should. When 15% VAT gets added, the bottom line will differ when compared to the current.
