MTN International Calling Subscription can't be cancelled?

MTN International Calling Subscription can't be cancelled? - SOLVED BY Dr_Data

I'm on pre-paid and registered for the MTN International Calling Subscription at the beginning of the month in order to buy a R30 MTN International Calling Bundle. I needed to make a once off international call.
The MTN International Calling Subscription cost R5/month.

I couldn't find a way to cancel the subscription, so contacted MTN on facebook, to find out how that can be done.
Yes I know R5 isn't much, but I'm not prepared to pay for ANYTHING I don't want.
Their reply:
"Unfortunately there is no way we can cancel the subscription cause you are on prepaid.

Just like that..... WTF??!!

I realise I can probably drop my balance to below R5, but why does one have to resort to such stupid tactics in order to keep a bunch of thieves at bay?

Anybody have an idea how this can be cancelled?

Hi there

This should work.

Dial *141*0#
Then select option 5 for My Account
Then select option 3 for manage bundles
Then select option 1 Cancel recurring bundle

The R5 bundle should show up, then select to cancel it.

Let me know if it works.

Although the menu numbers were slightly different, I ended up at Cancel recurring bundle and found my bundle there and actually could cancel it

Glad it worked. I tested from my number which is contract so the options would have differed a bit. I work for the company, just help people out here when I can.
