I signed a R99/month contract with MTN giving them access to my Firstcard for deducting the monthly payment. The contract states that an initial payment of R106 is deducted. On the 31st Aug. an amount of R465.21 was taken out of my card by MTN Sp. I asked Firstcard to reverse the payment and sent them a copy of the agreement showing the contract terms but they refused to do it saying I must sort it out with MTN. I went to the MTN store where I signed the agreement and the girl was shocked at the amount deducted. She phoned MTN about it but I am still waiting to hear from them.

You'll wait for years for those useless morons at MTN to sort this out. I still get overcharged by R200/month after a year of escalations. 1 more month and I'm out of there.

My advice?

Go to the police and get an affidavit for the fraud, take it to mtn. Extreme measures are often required with these morons

Change banks too while you are at it. The bank is supposed to reverse any payment on request. Mine does.

Thanks for your comments. The MTN store says MTN will pass me a credit. I am going to tell them I will pay the monthly fee into their account but I want a full refund of R465.21 they illegally withdrew from my card account. Failing that I will do as rakabos3 suggests and lay a charge. Thanks again.

Don't talk to MTN...

Tell your bank to reverse the charge, asap as you requested.
If they refuse threaten them with the Banking Ombudsman.

Pop me a PM with your number, I'll check on what caused this, let's get to the bottom of it to prevent future such occurrences...
