MTN K800i Unlock

Hey,

I just moved back to Ireland and while I'm still paying for my MTN contract in SA I want to unlock and use the phone on a different network here.

Any ideas on how to go about this? Does anyone know MTN's policy regarding these issues?

The easiest will be to have a SE service agent reload the phone with "generic" software, this will void your SA warranty.

Your K800 should not be network locked! ICASA put paid to that a few years ago!

It may be branded but it should still work on O2 or Vodafone in Ireland.

If you get any problems let me know as I've a good friend in the trade in Dublin who will get things sorted out for you...

Just test it with another SIM card to see how locked it is

Cheers guys, I used an old Sim to test it and got a negative - but it turns out the sim has gone the way of the dodo after not topping up in a few months. Tried it with a new O2 card and it worked. Thanks for the feedback!
