Went to apply for a phone package last week as my HTC died and I needed one urgently for business, I did not have the luxury of time to waste. I have Always been PAYG for the last 4 years with MTN and use around R150 per month. I decided that maybe it was time to take a small package for the business. Applied for the Nokia E63 on a Top Up 100 package, I was declined!!! On my business name nogal (trading with profits for last 4 years)! Well done MTN, could not get through to anyone to clarify why I was declined (Vodacom approved me for a R800 package but did not have the phone I wanted in stock). The staff at the shop could not/would not help me, so to MTN, bad luck, I just went and bought the phone cash and they can put their package where the sun doesn't shine! It does not help that when you phone a help desk, you can't get any help!
Incidently, MTN is selling the E63 for R3500, went to Game and bought it for
R2399!!!! Poor, poor show MTN!

Hope you'll be using another network in conjunction with your new phone? :)

Am thinking about it now,.......! They can lose my paltry R1800-2000 a year, its not much, but it wont be their's soon!!!!

yawn yawn...Think they really care? they lose a couple each day but hundreds of contracts gets signed up again. 5 to 10 sign ups a day is the average for some smaller shops (from where ive worked before). Same goes for the other networks. Those who walk away from MTN goes to VC or whatever other network has the most soil on their grass. And vice versa. So your post is meaningless and pointless. A waste to be honest...

Yes it is a double post in a way, however I have gripes with both Vodacom and MTN for different reasons. Although it may seem a waste at least I get to get it off my chest! As someone who runs their own business, I go out of my way to secure my bookings, be it for R50 for R50,000! Money is money, especially in todays slack economy, but Jono you are right, they don't care! But at least I got my phone at the end of the day,...!

You're better off without a contract.

Shocking price difference, MTN 46% more on Game's price. That's excessive.
Inflating prices to make their contracts look more attractive?

You still got ripped off by Game im afraid...Their prices are inflated as well. But at least youre smiling now. In a way. :)

Im most definitely think so. But some shops have been known to inflate their prices way above the rrp of the service providers. When i want a new phone, I phone a friend. ;)

Not a very big business hey? :p

You're right, I spend minimun R 5000.00 a year and im a private user.

No, I am not a very big business, but remember I mostly work from home so my telkom account (and lets not even get started on Telkom) is pretty big. But I am lucky enough to conduct a fair portion of my business via email. Thankfully I tend to keep a phone for 2-3 years so I don't have to worry about this for a while. Touch wood,....!
