I need some advice, o venerable forum peeps.

Fiance applied for a new contract on Monday via MTN direct's website. I applied for an upgrade on Tuesday using the website too.
Until now, not so much as a confirmation call. When I called yesterday I got told my query would be escalated, but have heard nothing since.

Am I being unrealistic, or is this a bit of a fail on MTN's part?

Sounds like normal MTN.

Tried to get a new contract through MTN SP in December, eventually gave up. Better service getting the MTN contract from Nashua Mobile.

Oh dont even get me started on Nashua.
When I asked them what benefits I'd earn for giving them my business, the manager of the store shrugged and answered, "Nothing really."
So why exist?

Can't agree with you guys though.
Got a new contract with them in October and the phone which was not availble in stores was delivered within a week from JHB to Cape Town.
Upgraded my wifes contract in December and again in less than a week.
Only had a problem getting my 42'' which took an extra week due to Hisense incompetence.

I would follow up on that request and quote the reference number. You should have heard from them by now.
Your reference number is your key
Also keep in mind, it also depends on the availability of the phone you ordered.

Yeah, but it's even a bigger pain to phone their call centre. Always sounds like there is a big party happening there...lots of shouting, laughter and noise - and you're not invited.

Been with MTN for the last few years ... and truth be told, I've actually had some dire run ins with them. My contract expires in September this year after which I'm taking my cash and running for red ... I've had some decent feedback from Cell C as I have a PAYG with them and have had a contract with them before. Just my 2c.

Just to update the saga:
We finally just upgraded/signed a contract in store.
That was a week ago.
Since then my fiance's service was suspended because the contract fees and once off costs exceed her credit limit. Not so much as a phone call to apprise her of the situation.
I'm now considering further steps.
MTN has officially been added to my list of things to do.
