Hi there

How much do MTN charge you to change your current phone contract sim to a micro sim.
Can't find this info anywhere online.

Thanks apoc.. What documents or things do I need to take with

Take your Green ID Book.

They were adamant that I need it. After a while of telling the girl I only have my drivers license with me and can't go home to fetch my ID she accepted the drivers along with a proof of residence that showed my ID number.

So rather take the ID Book to be safe. I took a proof of residence but apparently it is not necessary if you have the ID Book. So if you want to be extra sure just take that as well.

That sounds about right to me.

Take your ID book along, as APoc84 said.

The proof of residence isn't a must, it's just for the whole RICA thing. If you ask them reeeeally nicely though they will print a copy of your latest statement and use that. They did that for my last few applications/upgrades, not sure if it's common practice though.

If feeling a little bit brave, you can cut it yourself. Search for a template on this forum or the net. Couple of guys from this forum and myself included have done it without issue.

That is the reason I needed to do a SIM swap. Tried cutting my normal SIM.

Surgery did not go as planned and the patient(SIM) died.

Some are lucky. I wasn't

A buddy of mine tried to cut his normal SIM as well, it's pretty funny though... He was so "in the zone" before starting the "incision", someone startled him and the result was chopping it straight through the centre.

He was not amused. I, however, nearly wet myself when I heard the story. :D

Long and the short of it - you "can" cut your normal SIM, but is it really worth it?

Whats to loose except a bit of time without a sim. If you cant do without your line being up, pay and do it proper.

Otherwise if you stuff it up, you swap anyways. If you don't mess it up, you saved yourself some cash.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind some time without a SIM :erm:

I get what you are saying though. I am always just very nervous when it comes to doing these kinds of things by myself.

I got one at MTN for R135

Didn't want to risk anything as I am getting my samsung GS3 today wooooooooooh!

Enjoy the phone. Exact same reason why I had to swap to a Micro.

Awesome phone even after coming from the S2
