MTN - moving from contract to prepaid

Quick question- My contract ends today and I walked into the MTN shop at work just now to move from contract to prepaid. They told me I need to wait 11 days. I see on the forum that some people have it done on the same day? Can anyone provide clarity on me needing to wait 11 days vs. getting it done on the same day?

At a MTN shop you will be able to do it any day and immediately.
If it was Autopage or Nashua they have these funny rules that it can only be done once a month on a specific date.

Are you sure the contract has reached its term date?

I'm also thinking about leaving contract, so once contract is up one can can just cancel, you keep your number and you can then use any phone?

I'm currently on cheapie samsung but want to buy iPhone 5 which has small sim, who will change the sim to smaller size MTN?
at a fee i suppose?

Save yourself a trip and just call them if your contract has expired.

I went into an MTN shop to do this initially and they told me I needed to call the helpline . So I phoned the helpline while I was in the shop and 10 minutes later I was freed from my MTN contract, on prepaid, and much happier.

In case it impacts anyone in future- turns out I am a corporate subscriber (means I get 18% off calls, subs...). It takes 7 days to be moved from contract to prepaid as a corporate subscriber. Turns out its quicker to convert to a standard subscriber (2 days) and then change to prepaid (immediate)- which means I get saved an additional billing cycle - which is what I am doing. I lose out on the 18% discount with contract renewals on the other two numbers I have at the moment but this is a non-event as I am planning to move them to prepaid as well when the contracts expire later this year.
