MTN or Vodacom for Data

It depends.... in my house, I hardly ever get 3G on Vodacom, while I never get anything but 3G on MTN. And the tower's 400meters from my house as the crow flies.

i get pretty good reception from vc in my flat but no 3g/hsdpa from mtn
sucks cos my main line is mtn

I need to install modems that will transmit data. Some will be in remote areas.
Which offers the best network, support etc. MTN or Vodacom?

If it's remote then it will really depend on who has the best coverage in that area. Vodacom and MTN as also known to share towers in remote locations, so it might not even make a difference who you pick.

You probably also want to look at a corporate APN if you are planning on deploying a lot of mobile devices for the same project.

My experience, though perhaps it's only a perception, is that Vodacom is stronger in the urban areas where it concentrates more on providing high-speed data (3G+), while MTN appears to have better rural coverage. And in several rural areas where I have found only GPRS from Vodacom, MTN goes one better with EDGE. But as I said, just my own experience and perception....

Look on both their websites.. They have coverage maps that will tell you if there is coverage in those areas you plan on working in.
