Hi Guys

I have a 1GB contract that is due to expire in Dec'2009, however for the last five or six months MTNSP overbilled my account I've made an appointment with my Legal Team for Tuesday 15 Sept because no-one at MTNSP could explain these high bills.
I would like to know if anyone else got similar problems and did you managed to resolve it and got credit?

Thanks
Fransman:confused:

Well I have a 2GB account, was billed R2500, not for the first time either.. seems MTN is overbilling to try compensate for the expected loss of interconnection rates...!!!

Yep, I have also been overbilled. I've given up fighting though and will wait until my contract expires or it becomes economical to cancel it and join the other 60 000 South African subscribers who decided to leave them last year. Judging by there response to those turnover numbers (ie. None) I've learned that they really don't care.

It's a pity since I've been a loyal subscriber and defender of theirs for ten years and over the last six months they have completely destroyed that.

I have given up on requesting a refund for data bundles that were never activated because they suspended my line on numerous occations...even incoming calls...they are just too big for me!

Fransman,
Don't waste your money yet. I have been to a lawyer for advice. He told me to wait and see what MTN does. There are far too many people affected by this for them summons all of us.
You must keep track of your own data and not use *162*pin# for your balance as it takes up to 10 days to update. This will make your wireless internet unportable negating the reason why we got wireless in the first place.

Hi All
thanks for your feedback much appreciated, just shows you how MTN steal our money I will fight them until they refund me, Marco I've been paying monthly subs to this Legal company for many years now and I think its payback time now, will update you via this forum.

Thanks again!
Fransman

Do what I do. Reverse the payment at your bank and pay your average in cash.

By the way, MTN has stopped all charges to my account. I still deposit my payment less my overbilling anyway.

MTN Overbilling report back

Just to let you know that my Legal company advised me to take this matter to ICASA, so I will indeed submit my complaint to them tomorrow in Goodwood.

Will keep you guys updated on the progress.

I had to e-mail my complaint to ICASA HQ because the N1 City branch doesn't have a Consumer Affair Dept:mad:

Perhaps if we ALL do so, they might respond.

Lets start a commitee and "keep a eye on the transaction"

Ok. We must all have the same problem for ICASA.
DATA Billing By MTN.

1) Since MTN upgraded their billing system in April, our bills have been enormous.
2) Their DATA counter takes weeks to update leaving us with no clue as to our balance.
3) The bill states that it is "Month to Month" but we were charged 3 months backdated causing bills 3 times more than normal.
4) We get no warning when we reach our limit.
5)We still cannot access our DATA balance as it has been disabled for a week now.
6) Louis Nel from MTN finally stated publicly that MTN has a billing problem since April and they are seeing to it.
That was 2 months ago and MTN still has their head in the sand.
Anyone to add here?

I have tried ICASA. No help.

:mad:Really bad news....I submitted my complaint yesterday and still waiting for confirmation from ICASA, what should or must we do???

Sadly, ICASA does not do individual complaints. We will have to go to some consumer council.
