Long story short,

Want to upgrade,

Can NOT get hold of ANY branch for info.

Can NOT get through to 808 for a week now.

only number you able to get though to is MTN direct, which they forcefully try and make you take out contracts which you do not want. eg. Operator, " what phone do you want?", Me " I want to see a list so that I can compare what I want for what price". Operator " On your package you can have ANY phone" , Me "oh wow, so then they all the same price?", Operator, "Yes, you can have any phone you want" , Me " So listen is the price differences between phones?" Operator" Yes", Me "ok well give me the list so I can see", Operator" Sorry we don't have a list, phone 808" , Me " BYE!"

Now this is the second time in two upgrade cycles that I have had the same issue, obviously MTN cant give a dam about their existing customers. They are so hard to get hold of, its a joke. Then out of interest sake I tried phoning the Vodacom shop to see in they answer their phones. Two rings later and I am online with someone who is helping me.

Vodacom's service is 5 million times better than MTN.

You should have ported a long time ago.

The only reason I have been holding out was the fact that their pricing is so much more.

Maybe a little bit cheaper, but is it really worth it?

Vodacom has got some good deals if you buy it online.

Not really any thing compared to MTN deals wise, but service wise, def way way better.

Find me a Z3 Compact with 200 minutes, 300 sms, 300 data for R529 at Vodacom. or at least something very very close. to the same deal.

I signed a contract for the Z3 compact in december last year with MTN and as I sit here with a Z3 Compact in my hand which I picked up from vodacom last weekend, MTN still has not phoned me to collect my phone.

Well, there you have it! :D

Go and get your phone, just remember to take ID, three payslips and proof of address with you.

Good luck!

R350 airtime? how many minutes is this?

I'm paying 79c a minute on my Vodacom prepaid, so it comes to 433 minutes.

Mind you, yours could be a leetle more....I'm not sure.

You already get a 1GB data for 24 months with the UChoose, so you're sorted.

UPDATE : Looks like the UChoose rate is R1.80, which then equals 194 minutes. :)

ok I found it, is it a topup package?

Correct! (It's the UChoose Flexi contracts to the right of the screenshot, and you'll see the 1GB in green)

Topup is a much better package than taking a SmartS, as you can buy additional data bundles, sms bundles, etc. with it.

Always go for a TopUp contract, much better value. They can also assist you with it at a Vodashop, they'll tell you which one is better.

I've dealt with MTN on both a personal and business level. My upgrade was farce, lied to about credit I would get. Took me long to resolve, they gave me less than half i was to get, I left it at that. Business, I work for quite a large liquid packaging company, I order and issue phones to people from field engineers, managers, directors, etc. We have stopped dealing with MTN, moving all our business to Vodacom.

Our account rep in Constantia Park and his manager is so apically useless with everything, ordering phones, simple sim swops, etc. Everything is a schlep. I have to calm my self mentally before I speak to them.

Not saying Vodacom is 100% maanskyn en rose, but, heck, the service levels from them is excellent!

I totally agree, much better to just use their network, without having to deal with them. :)
