I was told by a client that they refuse to use MTN SIM cards for their data application because they've heard that MTN prepaid SIMs are deactivated if there is no voice call activity for six months, regardless of how many data bundles/SMSs they've handled. Is this true?

I got a MTN sim and 3G modem at work (using the IS APN) and I've never had the sim in a phone, been using it for almost 2 years.

i know this hapens when you are on a normal (voice) contract or prepaid and you only use this for data then you get disconected but data only sims should not be a problem

But data only SIMS have to be on contract, right? So you will get cut off after six months if you use normal prepaid SIMS without voice?

Last time I checked this was the case, although the inactivity period is actually 90 days (3 months) and in order to avoid disconnection you need to generate a billable event (make a call, or send an SMS).
