It appears that MTN has issues with internal systems in that customers still on the "old" system cannot be converted between contact and pre-paid.
I have been a pre-paid customer for many years and now want a contract. 4 separate attempts at buying a contract, multiple telephone, e-mail, WhatsApp and Twitter DM messages and conversations later and all I got is a series of headaches and a bitter taste in the mouth.
And from the various forums I see I am not the only one with this issue. And I have no way of escalating the issue within the MTN service hierarchy.
