MTN under siege for paying five executives R198 million

Many MTN shareholders have voted against the company’s remuneration implementation report, which saw its top executives and directors receive R249 million in 2024.

MTN’s 2024 Remuneration Report revealed that its group chief executive, Ralph Mupita, received a R65 million pay package in 2024.

R2m for a director seems about right. But those exec amounts. Fk right off. Guessing the avg mtn person hardly got an increase or bonus
I would guess most get minimum wage and an excuse why their increases and bonuses are always bare minimum.

Talented people need to be rewarded.
A lot of that amount would be based on company performance (and thus value to shareholders). These were likely pre-agreed thresholds of how much they get based on a set of outcomes.

EDIT: I read the article. The execs suck. Agree with the shareholders

They deserve it.

They keep selling their high priced products in South Africa for many years, without any worry that customers will leave.

MTN’s remuneration committee said it was satisfied that the executive remuneration structure is fair, competitive, and performance-driven.

I have no ill will towards high bonuses... however when your company has to implement increases on contracts that arent even a year old, it tells me you dont deserve a bonus as you arent growing your revenue with hard work and bright ideas, but rather punishing loyal customers.
