Hi Guys,

Is Afrihost trying to save routable addresses or am I doing something wrong?
I have a MTN Prepaid SIM, and it was provisioned onto Afrihost's service/APN this evening.
It works, but I'm being assigned 192.168.xxx.xxx Addresses?! Surely this isn't normal?

[EDIT]I randomly got a 102.xxx.xxx.xxx address after power cycling a few times, but now its just the above...[/EDIT]

Afrihost does not allocate a 192.168 ip address to Air Mobile.

They have a 192.143.0.0/16 allocation which they use for air mobile.

correct. T’was late.
The crux still exists though, airmobile not unrestricted APN?
If I get a 102.x I can use port forwarding but it is very hit and miss?

Nope both will allocate the ip as the wan ip. If you forward ports correctly you should have an open connection.

Ther is no difference between the 102. and 192.143 ip.

I think you're getting confused and assuming the 192.143.0.0/16 is a private ip range, which it is not. These are perfectly valid public IP addresses. I've also got Afrihost MTN Fixed LTE and I've noticed that the service will switch between 102 and 192 addresses quite often during the day. I usually notice it because my connection goes down for a few minutes and then it comes back up again with the new address. It is strange though, I agree.
