MTN sim in Vodafone Smart Tab

I recently bought a vodafone smart tab plus the compulsory sim that csme with it. Since i moved to an area with a bad vodacom reception, i swapped the sim with an MTN sim. And now things are seriously odd... If i connect the tablet to wifi, no problems. Connect to the voda sim, no problem. Has anyone had similar problems ? It looks like the tablet does not like the MTN sim. From a technical perspective it does not make sense yo me... Practically it does however seem to be the case. Any views?

Can you give more details apart from things being "odd"? What is it doing or not doing when you have the MTN sim in it?
