I have a rather strange problem:
I have a MTN Sim in a Xiaomi Redmi 5a Phone where calls and SMS work fine but not data. Lets call this SIM A and Phone A
I do have an identical contract MTN SIM with another Xiaomi Redmi 5a that do work no problems.
Swapping SIM A and SIM B, Phone A still does not work, but Sim A in phone B works 100%. This will make you think that Phone A is at fault.
It gets stranger:
If I insert any other Provider's (Cell C, Rain, Vodacom) SIM into Phone A the Data works, just not with an MTN Sim card.
Any ideas what I can look at. I already reset the phone to factory defaults to eliminate software.
Extra notes:
Both phones bought on Takealot, both Sims came from Afrihost. Data does not work regardless of APN (afrihost or MTN). And yes *141# gives me R500 balance on MTN Data as well as Afrihost's 2 Gig web portal so its nothing about available balance.
