Hi Everyone, After the second MTN scamster who tried to defraud me saying something to the effect that someone was trying to do a sim swap on my number and they would have to close down my account, I sent a communication to the MTN fraud department giving them the number. The reply was simply a standard reply to reiterate what to look out for the tricks these scamsters use. All I can surmise is that they can't be bothered or are unable to follow up, or that in fact the scamsters actually work in the fraud department!! The first call was allegedly from MTN head office according to ‘Truecaller’ and the next sounded like some made-up name. I’ve since learned that these criminals can attach any name to a phone number. So beware if anyone purporting to be from MTN fraud department phones, there is a very good chance you will be left with no cell number and who knows what else. Perhaps they would be able to access your bank accounts too. In fact all these fraudulent calls I'm sure emanate from insiders because they all seem to have some personal information.
