I only have 1 set of doubles in my number. Super strange. Hopefully, they don't try and do it while asleep. I saw MTN is heavy with inside jobsIf you have a number with a lot of sequential numbers maybe like 0613330000 or something like that it's a problem. The Nigerians and Pakistani try their best to steal these numbers by requesting pay4me requests and then request sim swaps or they do fraudulent porting to steal the numbers.
I have a few of these numbers. Back in the day I used to hoard them when the numbers where still printed on the back of the starter packs. I would go to jet and pep stores and scroll through the packs picking easy numbers. Now these numbers are being stolen. Lost 2 numbers due to fraudulent ports that went through.

Yes, it does appear to be. Got my ID hacked when getting anew sim card at an MTN store in Northgate in 2023.I only have 1 set of doubles in my number. Super strange. Hopefully, they don't try and do it while asleep. I saw MTN is heavy with inside jobs
There are some small stores that charge you some amount to SIM swap. Serious stores help you with instructions on how to do it yourself.Mtn or custermer care service can't help me with a sim swap I just can't seem to understand
This just happened to me now, how can I retrieve my number back. I got these messages yesterday saying I should processed with the sim swap , next thing my sim has been on No service since morningJust wanted to give people a heads up on a sim swap scam.
The scam involves using the MTN Pay4Me service and it's dissapointing that MTN allows this.
The scammer requests 3 x Pay4Me call requests. If you accept them they go to voicemail and you just drop the call. You think nothing of them.
Later you get an SMS about a sim swap that has been requested on your number.

MTN allows for a Sim Swap self service to allow customers to do sim swaps without having to call the call centre and they "secure" this by asking the person that is requesting the sim swap what are the last 3 numbers you have called from your simcard. Well they have that info now due to the MTN Pay4Me service they abused and made sure those numbers go to voice mail to register it as a call to that number.
The SMS allows you to reply Yes to process the sim swap now or No to cancel. Should you not respond in 4 hours the sim swap is automatically approved as not all customers have access to the old simcard to approve this request.
Ironically the easiest way to prevent an accident is to block that number, that way you can't accidentally answer it and you can prove you didn't approve a swap.Someone please help
