MTN sim swap

Why does mtn need me to rica the new sim that i want to swop my number to ? To my understanding my number is already registered for rica, i have done a sim swop on my cellc data sim and they didnt require me to rica the new sim. Mtn is full of kak sometimes and they have just lose me as their customer now thinking where to port my number to

Well I think they need to have the sim number in your name. Sims have different numbers, I am not talking about MSISDN

so i went on to rica the sim and then i phoned 173 speak to a lady who was rude and keep on rushing me eventualy she dropped the call on me, phoned again 173 and spoke to another lady who now tells me that the number i want to swap is a contract and i must dial 808 , i told her the number is on prepaid then she adviced me to go to mtn shop for further assitance and she ends the call (mind you she never confirm the number that i gave to make sure she had the correct numbers). I then made another call to 173 and spoke to a guy by the name Jason who was helpfull, gave him my number and he repeat it to make sure that he got it right and he asked me more few test questions and he told me the sim will be swapped withing 24hrs.
