I recently bought got an iPhone on contract from MTN. I own my own domain and want to set up an SMTP on my iPhone from the domain's email address.

MTN said I should use mail.mtn.co.za as the SMTP (no user, password or SSL), but it won't send any mails.

Any suggestions?

Make one of your computers at your house an exchange server and use that for sending and receiving emails. IMAP/Exchange is better than crappy pop anyways.

Use the free Google Apps - which also does mail.
Create a Google Apps account.
Point your MX records to gmail - see
http://www.google.com/support/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=33352
for how to do it.
You will then be able to send and receive as [email protected]
Works like a charm.

Provides excellent anti-spam, ssl, multiple users, use any mail client (incl lookout) and webmail etc.
Full featured - for free.
