MTN Steppa 2 LTE

Re the battery, I'm unfortunately not the one to give you a definitive answer, as I tend to charge my phone a number of times a day, and generally keep it above 80% charged (work from home).

So far it's at least keeping its charge at 99% after just over 4.5 hrs., but it's early days yet for this battery's life.

Specs details on the battery itself are :

Model # TBW5986
1850 mAh (3.8V (7.03Wh)
Li-ion rechargeable
Made in China ... just says MTN on the front, so no way of knowing who made it for them.

Did some digging around the web.

This is the manufacturer of the battery (and likely the phone as well) it seems (possibly owned by Alibaba or in collaboration with them) :
Shenzhen Xin Yuan Electronic Technologies Ltd. [ Guangdong, China (Mainland)]

... but the battery's not listed on this page, though it is a K-Touch (phone) as well :

The above are bulk orders for batteries, so hopefully MTN have or will bring them in.
I did ask them about this when buying the phone, and as is usual at these retail outlets, no-one knew too much. Will likely have to rely on one of these general cellphone shops matching up a generic when it comes to it, if the phone lasts that long !

Not very promising far as online replacements are concerned :

"Sorry, this item is no longer available!"

Yeah, but it has 2 year warranty with MTN. They will probably give out cash refund if they can't fix it or have replacement.

More on the battery life, after some real-world use ....

Just watched this video this morning, downloaded to the phone's SD card :

Downloaded the "SD Video Small" option which is 640 x 368 ; runs beautifully smooth / not a hiccup in sight, and very clear picture & sound production (on the phone).

Battery level was 97% when started and 54 minutes later (end of vid.), was on 91% which I'd think is more than acceptable - holding up well so far.

Adjustment to part of post # 11 (1st page of this thread).

The res. is 480 x 854.
Screen density is 159 dpi , which I know seems very low, but in fact doesn't look bad on this size screen.

EDIT : felt inclined even a few days after initially posting these stats, to adjust / update this figure of 159 dpi, as it must be incorrect.

The app recommended in an earlier post - CPU Z - measured the screen size incorrectly at 6.13", whereas it's in fact 4.5", so I'm far more inclined to believe the 240 dpi as indicated by AnTuTu in post # 15, is far more accurate - a big difference.

The Steppa 2 LTE smartphone is now retailing for R799 at all MTN Stores. If you are looking for a Cheap phone that works as a LTE mifi too then this is the device you need. ;)
