mtn topup contract bill goes beyond limit

howzit everyone

wonder if anyone has experienced this
i have a topup 350 contract and my bill went over thr 449?
why is this? i've contacted mtn and they only want to give me a credit of 30% of the amount that i went over with?
i feel this is ridiculous, as whats the point of a topup contract if it doesnt stop where is supposed to?
