Hi guys,

I have my mind set on getting MTN uncapped lite this week. I used a normal 3g stick to test internet speed in my area with a data bundle and it worked fine. However I'm concerned about all the complaints on this forum with Uncapped lite. Do anyone know how uncapped lite runs/at what speeds in the Joostenbergvlakte area?

Thanks in advance,
Terry

run for the hills. its a trap:D

I agree. Look away. Speed is just fine during the first 10 days (Suppose it is to get you through the "cool off" period) and thereafter they nail you. Look closely. Marketing material says that you can, after the 3 Gb Fair Use, use the internet for the rest of the month at "up to 256Kb". Does this mean you can download stuff at 25-30KBps? No. Apparently the clause "you can still USE as much internet..." does not imply that your connection will actually be useful!

It looks to me like towers ban you. The mode starts flapping between WCDMA and HSPA incessantly between 5pm and midnight. You are lucky if you get an email to go through. Don't believe me? have a look at this link - https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=D224E5E050518AAE&id=D224E5E050518AAE!305&sc=photos. This is my speedtest result for 30 minutes ago.

I have to drive 300Km tomorrow to do some work on servers directly as I cannot trust MTN to even provide me with a connection stable enough to use VPN. I feel that MTN is about as useless as a fart in a thunderstorm.

Thanx mgcock, but cant seem to open the spreadsheet.

I have some mixed feelings about this thing and the reason is that I have seen people with good speeds on this forum and alot with bad speeds. Then I personally know people with this package and it works perfectly for them and they live only about 10km away from me.

When using a normal mtn 3g stick with loaded data, then its fine. But then again, what if?? So yes, mixed feelings!!

Ok, I've searched the internet a bit and got my final answer on Hallopeter. haha. If you go to all the complaints on hallo peter concerning the MTN uncapped lite package, you will see that if you complain, they try to correct things so that their name do go down the drain!

So its simple, I'm getting it on basis of my previous tests(using normal MTN 3g stick an sim) and the salesman telling me it should work 100%. And if there is suddenly problems, then I will just complain to who ever I can. Hallopeter seems to work though.
