South Africa.
Havent you noticed the red tape and monopoly with all these companys?
It makes me sick that such great technology is just not being able to be used in this country.
Do the goverment really want us to use all these 2nd rated products all the time and not expect people to get upset.

Im not a techie person when it comes to PCs,but saying that shows its not just techie people using PCs anymore, its everyone.

Its the flippin banks aswell, seems us PROUDLY South Africans are getting ripped off all the time by PROUDLY South African companies.

PS and cars aswell
and lets not talk about petrol and your municiple acc(electricity rates go up in winter,I never heard of a shortage of coal in winter)

electricity rates go up in winter because you use more electricity, not because there is a shortage of coal. Heaters are notorious for using massive amounts of power

I have the same sentiments.. when I hear my girlfriend tell me what's it's like in China.. and when I hear friends from other countries speak about what it's like there, it makes me sick.

We are ripped off from every single direction imaginable.. it's a friggin free for all in this banana republic man.

erm, maybe he actually ment "rates" go up. if he meant "usage goes up" i think he would have said so.

And yes, on all his points I agree. We live in Suck-Africa, and there is NOTHING ANYBODY can do about it.

Agree with 100%, sk33t.

The only way to sort this out is competetion, but our govt/regulators are just very sloooow in doing anything.

The sad part, though, is that I don't see a change coming any time soon.

having just got back from hong kong, all the hotel rooms there are equipped with 8mb/s free access. this is an island who were only recently returned to china - whats our freakin excuse!!! the truth is that like every other government function that runs really slowly on service deliveries (home affairs ring a bell?), it would be wishful thinking to think that the communications sector would be any different. we may have beautiful scenery and what not, but every economical aspect of the country is being crippled due to government intervention. and could somebody please explain to me why ICASA are the only ones authorised to issue operating licenses? does the 'I' not stand for 'Independent'? so why are they government controlled? that's probably the reason why ICASA is taking forever to issue a license to the SNO

I believe SA is in fact currently perfect as the new "America" in the sense of dreams can come true here, and people can make fortunes, just like they have in America with multi-millionaires etc.

We are being crippled and all the potential is growing mentally, itching to be exposed and offered in the form of new internet services and offline new growth from housing to farming.

Currently only a handfull benefit from South-Africa's potential, these would be the companies with their hands deep enough in the governments pants.

All the real potential of improving the country is seriously being neglected by looking outside your window.

Yip,ure rate p/kilowatt or whatever goes up.
Even if youre usage stays the same.
