Is anyone else out there having serious service availability issues with MTN currently.

For approximately 2 weeks, I have had dropped calls, number unavailability, cannot dial Telkom/peer networks, voicemails with no missed called and so on. I would have assumed that this was a phone problem, but I have a circle of friends who are having the exact same problems in the Durban area.

Anyone know what the problem is and whether it is going to be resolved ?

I've had issues where if people try call me and I'm browsing the net at the time they'll get the "subscriber unavailable" message like my phone was off.

I've also have quite a few times where I've tried to make a call and get a "network not available" message.

Everyone knows about my gprs/3g/edge problems between 20:00 at 22:00. Even though twice I've the problems in the morning.

I've come to the conclusion that the mtn network is deteriorating.Just as you say here no access to Data 2 - 3 times a day. Why?I'm on prepaid. Here we get 95%off voicecalls & true hsdpa speeds at 2am in the morning.Perhaps you should consider sacrificing your beloved sleep to get service(While the mtn bosses are sleeping away in their mansions).

I honestly think MTN's network is congested. Atleast the pre paid side of it. Every night latency rises and connection issues become apparent. Lately its become during the day :O They must have all pre paid data users on a shared 10mb line or summin :P

Night before last When I had the no connect issues again, I tried switching my phone off then on again. Took me like 2mins for my phone to make a connection with mtn. This is just my phone picking up the network. Not even trying to go on the net or anything. Was like I was in the middle of the karoo trying to get signal.

Yesterday at 05:15 for some reason had the no connect problem again, yet by 05:30 was working again.

Things are looking rought for MTN. Also been have a lot of cannot connect to PPP server errors, which last an hour or two at a go.

Could you cancel your contract based on this?
I've got a data contract and for the last 2 weeks have not been able to use it much because of the network errors.

I have data issues in the evenings, phoned once before...same story they're aware of the problem, sigh...MTN should really start spending that couple of Billion Rand on upgrades that they said they were going to do...

As I'm sitting and typing this, my phone is scanning for an MTN connection.

WTH !!! Been living with this hell for the past two weeks. This is not a phone problem, this one is MTN. Eight phones from three different areas have the same problem.

My HTCs battery consumption is rocketing since it spends most of its time searching.

Can a MTN member please explain what is going on and when will it be fixed. This is really getting ridicules.

P.S Vodacom is also showing some symptoms

The way I see it. As long as MTN can see that people are connecting, they are happy. Regardless of latency issues.

Hi
We are carrying out major upgrades which will enhance the end user experience quite considerably once we are complete.
Regards

I also had noticed the demise for the last 2-3 weeks. This week however things did seem to go a little better again.

LOL :D

I have the same problem with Vodacom every night at about 8:00pm till 10:00pm no Vodacom signal at all! nothing! i have confirmed this with people i know. all have the same problem.

i called Vodacom and they say there are no problems.

Oh well when everyone has moved from them because they are to busy to listen, then i think there will be a problem HA HA.

MTN i can't complain really i never have a problem i get good EDGE speeds!
