Was looking at Migrating over to a new Cellular provider(as in not MTN or CellC). Been through 4years of continual bad experiences which culminated in my Nokia being swopped for a new phone after it crashed 18times in 18months and needed software reloading every time. Thing is my phone s now Months old though my contract is up.

Anyone know what happens to warranty should I move to another company now?

Nokia covers the warranty for 2 years so take it directly to them if you have any problems
actually you should have taken it directly to Nokia directly in the first place

My main Question relates to policy regarding my newly swopped out phone that is now months old at the end of a 24month contract. I want to move to another cellular company and want to know whether my warranty will be voided by this.

To answer your Nokia refused to swop out the phone in the first place. I contacted Nokia directly but their tech line has less knowledge to advise me that my local pet shop. I'll never buy Nokia again! Also worked through GSM (Local repair) and Mtn SP and ICASSA. Still took 6months to get resolved. Apparently Nokia has a policy to reload software (Stall) as long as possible. Phone eventually got swopped with another faulty unit - more stalling. Problem was design flaw. Eventually phone got swopped for another brand.

Problem is that Mtn has poor aftersales service! They can resolve simple issues but are unable to deal with complex issues based on four years of hassles. Also seems that Management in Mtn also tend to pass the buck to avoid getting in trouble with upper management.

I'm voting with my feet one way or another.

even if you use the phone on another network nokia will honour the warranty at least in my experience they have. not sure if other brands do the same though

nokia might but MTN won't. VC does the samething :

if another sim except one of their own for less than 90days, they do not honour warranty
