He is around. Apparently lurking in the shadows after getting severely reprimanded by his boss for something that he posted on this forum :D

Like What? You work for which company again? ;) Never mind, just glad you're not MIA

Correction

Any MTN help number, people always answer 'yello'. Somehow their management thinks its cool. I think its pathetic. And they always sound really uncomfortable saying it.

Do you know there's a procall 150 package out? With persecond billing from the first second? Think you'll get that from MTN's website? Think again.

I agree the MTN website is pathetic. And very yellow.

I just cant get over how yellow something can be... like some hippie submarine... no offence piesang, but man it just doesnt work for me

Vodacom are no better?! I have been considering publishing some of my phone calls recorded while talking to the dead-heads at the callcentres. I find it good therepy having a go at the thickets employed there. Worst in the world IMHO..:-o

... I hope so...

But then why the soaring subcriber figures? Can their marketing be so effective?

I think it all depends on which agent you get. Let me tell you about my experience last week. I had a break-in in my hotel room and they stole both my Vodacom Contract (work) phone and my MTN Contract (private) phone. I had a spare phone with a few PAYG rands in the car, so I phoned 808 to report the incident, block the SIM card and blacklist the phone. I didn't have enough money on the PAYG to phone Vodacom, so I sent an SMS to a friend to ask him to call Vodacom and ask them to call me.

1. MTN - it took almost 10 minutes before the agent answered the call (bear in mind this was around 20:00). It then took a further 15 minutes (maybe a bit shorter) to process the SIM card and blacklisting. About 10 minutes after that the confirmation fax came in on my 0867 fax.
2. Vodacom - 3 minutes after I SMSed my friend to call Vodacom, the agent from Vodacom called me and 2 minutes later the whole process was over and done with. Almost immediately after that I received the confirmation fax.

Whenever I phoned the (correct) Vodacom call centre, I was helped virtually immediately. When I phone 808, the call on average takes 5-10 times longer.

I've been with both companies more than 10 years, but maybe out a false sense of loyalty to the one...

This kind of sums it all up, doesn't it. That plus the fact that MTNSP Broadband has just disappeared again; not even bothering to put up a pretence of service anymore are they?

Go to the Vodacom threads and see what Vodacom3G does for those guys. His service is unbelievable, plus he has a sense of humour and is obviously intelligent. Personally I am changing over to vodacom (after 10years with MTN) even though I am going to have to change my phone number. MTN is just seriously useless and their website is the last straw. Somebody please tell them that all that yellow is not cool.
