Hi there

My first problem with iburst :o. Can someone please show me how to change the MTU settings in command prompt. My current setting is 1392, I've tried the followng commands with no success :-

netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces & netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface <iBurst PPPoE> mtu=1352 store=persistent

Thank you in advance :)

Which OS do you use?

In Gentoo you put something like this in your /etc/conf.d/net:

config_ppp0=("ppp")
link_ppp0="eth1"
plugins_ppp0=("pppoe")
pppd_ppp0=("defaultroute" "usepeerdns" "demand")
username_ppp0="<myusername>"
password_ppp0="<mypassword>"
mtu_ppp0="1352"

@ cryptic1, are you using a router or just PC straight to modem?

To check if your MTU is correct ping this

c:>ping -f -l 1400 www.myadsl.co.za (can be any domain, and that is L, as in lower case)
if should give you packet needs to be fragmented but DF set
if you adjust the number to 1364 that should ping without above error (1364+28=1392)
Or just the number and that will tell you where your current MTU is set ("number"+28=your current MTU)

Although iBurst suggest the use of a MTU of 1352, it's Cape Town based towers no longer uses the recommended MTU as the backhaul ISP's does not allow for the use of it and all seem to be working far more effectively with the standard MTU of 1492.

Therefore my advice would be; Should you not experience any issues with the standard MTU do not change it to the lower MTU of 1352.
