The Zimbabwe Democracy and Economy Recovery Act (ZDERA) restricts the United States to vote in support of new assistance to Zimbabwe from international financial institutions (IFI’s), except for programs that meet basic human needs or promote democracy. It is important to understand, however, that Zimbabwe became ineligible for multilateral loans in 1999, well before ZDERA because it stopped repaying loans already owed to the IFIs.

Gays are cool and Bob was wrong to equate them to animals. The man is wrong on many things but the land seizures compensate for his shortcomings.

how in gods name do the land seizures compensate his litany of shortcomings ?
the land seizures was the biggest of all - he took away productive farms from white farmers to give to his cronies who knew nothing (and probably had no interest in farming besides the status) of farming.
this benefitted nobody, reducing the country from one of africa's largest exporters of agricultural products, to one that now relies on food aid.
some black farmers who are genuinely interested in farming have acknowledged they lack the skills and experience to run productive farm have been seeking help from the ex-owners of the farms and looking to form partnerships with them in order to improve productivity - mugabe disapproves of that too, effectively meaning he would rather see the land remain fallow with black people occupying it, than the farms being productive if white farmers are involved.

the man is deranged.

one is a zanupf pic - looking closer at the pic, it seems to depict a group of people forcefully bussed in and all told to sit on the ground obediently and wait for dear leader to speak

another is from the herald - mugabe's official propaganda outlet - not even going to bother to read it

Zimbabwe's 'million-man march' for Mugabe fizzles

Tens of thousands of Zimbabweans have marched through the capital Harare in support of veteran President Robert Mugabe, but their number fell short of the ruling party's goal of attracting a million people.

Demonstrators were shipped in from all over Zimbabwe for Wednesday's march, organised by the Zanu-PF's youth wing.

They sang pro-Mugabe songs as they spilled out of buses in central Harare, a show of force to counter a demonstration by the opposition last month calling for the president's resignation.
Speaking at the rally, the 92-year-old Mugabe denounced as "treasonous" factions in his party feuding over who should succeed him.
"There should never be little groups to promote so and so. Those little groups are treasonous groups, they spoil the party," Mugabe told his supporters.

Victoria falls is very far from Harare and yet South Africans rate Harare 3rd on the list of African countries they want to visit. I wonder why. Must be love for Bob.
