I use to feel for them, but I don't care anymore.
They do not seem to care if they're lives are s*** while Mugarbage lives in a mansion. They should have started the revolution many years ago. Clearly, they like being treated like animals.

I sometimes look at my dad while he sits now playing Playstation every night and I feel sorry for him. He hardly talks about Rhodesia anymore now that he's living in Oxford in peace. He fought and nearly died in a war for a country that was doomed the day they declared UDI. He saw a lot of his friends die in that war and now when they show any news of Zimbabwe on the television you can literally see the tears welling up and he leaves the room or turns the channel immediately.

I was way too young to remember the glory days of Rhodesia, but from what my parents have said, it was heaven. Clean streets, a strong economy, booming night life, cinemas, a virtual paradise. Its so sad how one man can completely obliterate that. Can actually feel myself welling up now so best to stop but for any of us ex Rhodies out there, you know what I'm talking about...

For some Germans, The 3rd Reich was a heaven. But was it a nice and fair country ?
For the majority of the black people living in that country, Rhodesia was a pure ****hole.

* Ding! Ding! * We have a winner, Folks!

It's really sad what a loon this guy has turned into given his level of education.

Also remember Abraham Lincoln, bless the man.
He once said that he disapproves of slavery but does not approve of marriage between blacks and whites. The time you grow up in and the environment has an effect on you you can't escape.

afaik Mugabe only got a teachers degree ?

But HF Verwoerd was also a brilliant man, looking at his level of education.

Good point, tertiary education doesn't always make good leaders.

Mugabe's education: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Mugabe#Early_life

He qualified as a teacher, but left to study at Fort Hare in South Africa graduating in 1951 while meeting contemporaries such as Julius Nyerere, Herbert Chitepo, Robert Sobukwe and Kenneth Kaunda. He then studied at the University of Oxford in 1952, Salisbury (1953), Gwelo (1954), and Tanzania (1955–1957). Originally graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Fort Hare in 1951, Mugabe subsequently earned six further degrees through distance learning including a Bachelor of Administration and Bachelor of Education from the University of South Africa and a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Laws, Master of Science, and Master of Laws, all from the University of London External Programme [25] The two Law degrees were earned while he was in prison, the Master of Science degree earned during his premiership of Zimbabwe.[26]

Verwoerd's education: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HF_Verwoerd#Early_Life
After his schooling, he proceeded to study theology at the University of Stellenbosch, later changing to psychology and philosophy. He was awarded a masters and a doctorate in philosophy, both cum laude, and turned down an Abe Bailey scholarship to Oxford University, England, opting to continue his studies in psychology in Germany. Verwoerd left for Germany in 1925, and stayed there during 1926, studying at the Universities of Hamburg, Berlin and Leipzig. His later critics have at times suggested that this coincided with the rise of German National Socialism in the 1930s; however this stay predated it by a number of years. During this visit, he might have met with Fischer, but even at this stage, social-Darwinism was not the focus of Verwoerd's research. He published a number of works dating back to that time, which are all still available at the library of the University of Stellenbosch:[2]

And then on the other side of the scale :D
