MULTI-TOUCH ON THE 5800!!

We hope he does not make any infringements on Apple’s multitouch patent.

That's what I was thinking when I saw the post heading...its an Apple technology so why would Nokia even bother.

hijack :)

uh does anyone know how to charge the 5800 through the pc ?
or is it not possible ...

thanks and apologies for the hijack

er.. its not apple "technology".. its a "concept" apple utilises, in fact apple uses capacative screens, nokia uses resistive screens.. so technically its impossible to use the same technology on completely different hardware.

and apple dont own multi-touch.. altho their screen is very good, make no mistake :)

didn't they patent it though?

Yes, Apple patented it that's why you won't find muti-touch on any of the iClones from LG, Samsung even the G1 although it can be achieved through hacks.

So am I not allowed to push Shift and a letter to make a capital, does this fall under apple's multi-touch patent? It would be such a hassle to push caps lock on. Letter. Caps lock off.

Can I patent the breathing motion, then charge people for using it?

if you register a patent, it doesnt mean that the patent is a valid one. It just means that the patent office received it. Whether or not a patent is valid will be determined by a court should Apple sue someone else using the concept to enforce that patent. Registering the patent is just giving notice to everyone that Apple thinks they have a patent..

in any event, you can patent a process, not an idea... as someone once said

Has anyone patented ass wiping yet? If I had a nickel for every time someone wiped their ass!

in fact it would appear that Apple may be the dudes stealing patented technology

see below from the inquirer:

Company claims Apple stole screen software
Quick on the draw
By Stewart Meagher
Monday, 16 February 2009, 11:12 MOBILE PLATFORM PROVIDER PICSEL has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Apple over software used in the Iphone and Ipod Touch.

The Scottish company, which owns the patent on rapid redraw technology which has shipped in over 250 million devices worldwide, claims that Apple has used a key component from Picsel’s mobile rendering functionality, which enables users to scan through on-screen content without experiencing prolonged screen update cycles.

The complaint was filed in the US District Court of Delaware by New York law firm Nixon Peabody and will no doubt seek to recover a chunk of revenue from every one of the 13 million Iphones sold in the last two years.

And as for the Ipod Touch... we can't even find a number for total sales for that particular item, but the Cupertino company shipped 22.1 million Ipods in the fourth quarter of last year alone, so it's gonna be a lot!

We didn't even bother to phone Apple's press bunnies for a comment because they never say anything to anyone about bad news and we're sick of hearing their stock reply.

so if i were one of those dudes going on and on about how Apple did this first and apple did that first.. i would remember it was alexander graham bell who in fact came up with telephone.. do you think they stole the "idea" from him?
after all its the same "idea" right? just a different "process" of achieving it..

and as for touch screens, capacative touch technology has been in effect in lifts for years and years.

i have to go with what newton said... if it werent for the shoulders of those giants.... where would we be?
