Multichoice MNET Racist share schemes

Oh, I forgot to mention that I took these from the DSTV site.

"To Multichoice"

What has happened to the loyal customers who supported you prior to 1994? Where do we now stand in the line? I am often tempted to throw in the towel, face defeat and cancel our longstanding contract, because it seems loyalty no longer has a place in South Africa.

I am sure that your organization will come up with a politically correct reply to this dilemna, and I eagerly await your response! I would also appreciate the comments of the tens of thousand other loyal payers and customers, who may feel the same as I do!!

t is difficult to speculate on what the competitor will look like, and until ICASA make the submissions public we will not know what their offering will be. DStv has always been positioned as an upper income product, but we have noticed over the last couple of years that we were attracting a number of subscribers from the lower LSM's.

Compact was launched to serve this market - and is being refined based on subscriber feedback. New markets are being discussed but there is nothing confirmed at this stage, and the issue is that it must not destroy the existing business that has been created.

A lower level or cheaper offering is subject to a number of differing opinions but the fundemental question to be asked is what will the content look like. There are 19 876 pay television channels available off over 3000 satellites. These range from hard core porn to the Albanian knitting channel. So the question is what can you offer for under R100?

On the technology front we have tested VOD, we have some exciting developments coming to the existing PVR decoders, have tested widescreen, etc, etc. So there are a number of developments planned over the next couple of months.

On the channel front, we are currently working on acquiring more channels, but the nature of these deals is confidential as they are still in the negotiation phase, so I can only comment on genres. Exactly as the press and our CEO has mentioned, Lifestyle, Crime, are genres that we are looking into.

so what does the answer have to do with the question

Maybe its me and the way I read the response because I thought

Question

"What has happened to the loyal customers who supported you prior to 1994? Where do we now stand in the line?"

Answer

"but we have noticed over the last couple of years that we were attracting a number of subscribers from the lower LSM's."

Partly dlk's fault as he didnt quote the whole question & answer, read the original link

http://www.dstv.com/gysmm/forum/threadView.aspx?sid=12171&Id=132

and maybe it will make sense

"While we do hear your dissapoinment at not being able to participate in the latest MultiChoice share scheme venture, we would llike to highlight as we have done in previous communication, that MultiChoice is carrying out the mandate set by the South African government on Black Economic empowerment. "

viz. MultiChoice has no choice here.

Ja Multichoice ain't that great.

Do you guys know that for MC to get a broadcasting licence they had to do this? It wasn't a choice. So stop complaining.

You leg-humped an old thread to post a link that is also old news. Your necro points expire at midnight, use them wisely.
I don't think this has ever really been discussed as everybody seems to have forgotten about the scheme. It's good to revisit stuff down the line to see what has come of it but feel free to poo-poo it if you wish.

It's just that the link that you posted is almost as old as the thread itself, if it was a link to some new information that had come to light I would not have pooped on your necro.

And I don't see that as a valid reason. Everyone made a big fuss when it was offered and one guy took notice when it inevitably failed. Everywhere else it was crickets chirping. Exactly what the ANC wants.

So can I get into on this program still?
Apparently trading is happening on the platform between people with no idea what MC shares are worth. So if you're black or coloured the answer is yes.

If you're an "uitlander" then the current apartheid system is still putting you at a disadvantage.

@Swa its good to revisit issues and check lessons learnt.

duh! Nobody is denying them the right. The problem is them denying whites and other races the right! It is exactly what got us here in the first place.

Reverse racism is OK because of revenge politics and of course whites are a minority. Whites will never rule in SA again, so it's OK to discriminate against them, there will not be another anti white-discrimination struggle ever. The correction of errors of the past is actually also what Hitler tried to do as well, after all he blamed Jewish bankers and financiers and the Treaty of Versailles for Germany's problems and began work on these two issues. So one has to be careful.

Whites could, as a sign of protest, disinvest in Naspers/MIH en masse and possibly bring the company to its knees. Of course that costs money and nobody wants to lose their own. Also cancelling DSTV subs, MWEB membership, no longer buying from Takelot/Kalahari, etc.

It's what other people do in other countries - well attempt to do - in cases of social protest.
