Big DStv streaming update

MultiChoice is rolling out updates to its DStv Stream user interface, beginning with the video-on-demand section of the web application.

The user experience refresh aims to make it easier for users to find something to watch and navigate the app. It will roll out to all devices in the coming weeks.

If only the updates addressed the streaming limits to actually make these packages worthwhile. Until then, IPTV all the way.

Mine updated last week already. Looks like they tried to imitate Netflix. Sadly it not actually working better. It still feels like you submit an application to watch anything to a series of committees before anything actually runs. Don't try to switch on your TV 5 minutes before the game starts.

How about they fix the slow-as-shìt Samsung TV app. The Netflix app is so buttery smooth in comparison.
Short answer: they can't
Long answer: after all these years, they're still only hire devs on a contract basis. I have heard from devs that fell for their recruitment "drives", that working there SUCKS!

The app is still garbage. Wait forever for a stream to start. Then the quality sucks lemons. Can never get a proper HD stream for anything. Meanwhile, youtube and everything else can stream at 4k. But dstv can't hold 720p for anything. So that leads me to believe that it's their upstream cdn that's rubbish and can't push packets quick enough. Everything about their streaming platform is still rubbish and it's still being treated like an afterthought.

My parents (with DSTV) were here this weekend, wanted to watch the Olympics on DSTV - my **** that app has gone from bad to terrible. How it was ever released is beyond me. What a piece of ****.

Bruh I have a mind to rewrite the app and send it to these okes for free...

I hate it that much.

They will take your source code and mess with it, then claim the "forked" version is their absolute best work and have parties to celebrate.
FYI they're pestering me again on LinkedIn, now using another agency. Told them to f0kof.

Who is testing it for them that are giving them this feedback. AFAIK all the people that use the streaming service only have complaints. Can't they up the bitrate just a bit. Even youtube at 720P looks way more clear than their 1080p.

Even the app is horribly slow, not sure if that's my Samsung TV, but the TV is max of 2 years old so find that hard to believe.

Well, when I try click on a channel to watch anything on live tv on pc it just jumps to "recently watched channels" and goes no further, so I can't actually watch anything. Only thing that works is catchup where I can watch a 5 minute highlight of the Olympics, but even there it sometimes just gives you a blank screen when you click on the episode, where you have to refresh the page and try again when it then usually works.

Also, the timeline jumps around if you try use the 10 second rewind button, it will jump to some completely random point and then you have to use slider to try and find where you were initially.

I use Brave browser. I just tried on internet explorer and it seems to work there, so something to do with Brave although it did work yesterday:
