Streaming the Rugby World Cup without DStv in South Africa is illegal — MultiChoice

South Africans can stream all matches of the 2023 Rugby World Cup (RWC) live for free using a virtual private network (VPN) service, but SuperSport owner MultiChoice has warned that doing so would be illegal.

The rights to broadcast or stream sporting events belong to different companies depending on the countries or regions where they are being shown.

Trying to explain a cyber crime to police would be something worthy of capturing on camera
Yeah, but knowing MultiChoice and Irdeto.....they do love to make examples, place the fear of the all watching online gods into people ..-referring to the guy that pirated that 4 Corners movie , and more recently the dude got convicted for pirating / selling dstv streams preloaded on android boxes....they will do the leg/tech work...and rope police in to do the arrest.

+ I am sure, they lurk on here...

Notice what they had in common? They sold or distributed it. They didn't just watch it.

Multichoice can go fly a kite. This past weekend, I watched the UTMB. Live streamed on YT. On 7 different channels, with 7 different commentary languages. Will we ever see this with the Comrades Marathon? Never, the greedy fckers wilk not relinquish. But, they are killing the sport in doing that. Anyway, good luck with finding, and prosecuting live streaming on platforms other than monochoice.

WHAT?!?! people are streaming rugby for free on ITV through a vpn? i'm absolutely flabbergasted. i bet they probably use an ad blocker like ublock origin on firefox to cut out the adverts like i heard people do with uk's channel4 (also through a vpn) so that they can watch "come dine with me", "great british bake off" and other british shows. disgusting.

How EXACTLY is it illegal you dmfks. There is no law that we agreed to or contract we signed.

Oh and fck you and your 1080i compressed rubbish
As much as I don't give a schit, it is indeed illegal.
