MultiChoice waves the white flag

The French:

Over the last three years, Canal+ gradually increased its stake in MultiChoice – from 6.5% in October 2020 to 31.7% by 31 March 2023
...why? Do they not read MyBB and its myriad of DSTv articles spelling out its doom and gloom?

I honestly can't think of a single aspect of MultiChoice worth owning. At a stretch I could come up with their market share in other African countries where broadband hasn't yet reached good enough penetration for streaming to be a competitor, but why buy now then? Why not just wait until the SA market has completely dried up and then buy up the remains cheaply.

Sacré bleu baguette de fromage!

Wee saught it was le French who has see repetasijon for alwees surrendeuring?

Multichoice is a worthless company. When the world still had proper businesses and business leaders, not a single one of them would ever have considered buying out MC or even enter into a partnership with them.

The French have always been as brave and effective fighting force as you can expect from any free country.

They have had shockingly cowardly politicians on occasion.

They just became too cock-sure and then too bent on local productions.

Still a chance for them to be a fair service for some of the old type crowd, and they still have the sports advantage to boost them if they don't wait too long. Maybe the new bosses will realise this.
Their present Showmax efforts aren't going to do it, I've seen there's far too little modern movie content.

Last time there was a take-over, by Naspers, it was a disaster. Not too hopeful the French can do better.
