I'm looking for something like this.

A friend of a friend has one but I can't find out where he got it, and the phrase "multimedia concentration system" doesn't produce any results for local suppliers. Does it go by another name?

What features are you looking for in a device like that?
eg. Playing videos (.mkv format) from SD card to TV (via HDMI).

It's for my mom and she's not going to do anything other than watch videos with it. At the moment she has a cheap DVD player that has a USB port and I take her stuff on USB sticks. So I'm looking for something that has storage (so I can copy stuff on to it using a USB stick), a decentish remote and that can play files other than .avi (.mkv, etc). So just a media player with some kind of OS to drive the menu - she's certainly not going to be torrenting, she's never even used email

Thanks for the links, searching for "multimedia player" rather than that other phrase is proving far more fruitful
