Multimeter recommendations?

Im looking for a decent digital multimeter in the low to midrange price range.Basically anything below R1k.
It doesnt need to have Auto Sensing.It should have a CAT III safety rating or similar.
Using it for home DIY testing as well as very light commercial.Obviously v good quality and longevity hopefully & a decent Warranty/Guarantee.
Suggestions please?

Not critical but it can make a difference if you get one with the ammeter clamp...

For that price you're going to get really terrible quality test leads, that's a big issue with all these cheap meters.

Nothing wrong with the meter itself, the test leads is another story, not to mention this is very bare bones compared to what OP could get within his budget..

Ive found with the cheaper meters the leads are the let down...short cables and ends that pull out of the probes.
So ive taken the broken ones before and added a crocodile clip to the end to clip onto an earth/neutral bar.

They look identical to the ones on the unit you linked.

Granted the one I have was about R399 or so but has done the job very well for the bit of continuity and voltage testing I need to do.

Well like I said above this one https://www.takealot.com/total-tools-digital-multimeter/PLID70839034 has literally exactly the same leads as the link @DrJohnZoidberg sent above...the exact same end caps and everything which tells me the whole thing comes out of the same factory.

Could they be longer? Maybe a little, but then again for those use cases I just have a long piece of wire and a crocodile clip and no other meter would have had leads long enough anyway.

Has a backlit display and auto-off function and all those nice things you want.
 
I mean if you really want to spend R800 then I would still buy the Total Tools one and just get all the bells and whistles.

It's really difficult to judge the quality of the leads from a photo, 99% of multimeter leads have the same configuration but it's the materials used that matter.

Look I'm not an electrician by trade but have re-wired a number of plugs in my house as well as light switches and do the odd bit of electrical repairs of appliances etc and haven't had an issue.

Just this weekend I had to wire the tiniest of ethernet wires from my gate motor the the door bell and it worked perfectly to check continuity and voltage.
