Does someone know what I am doing wrong? I have 2 PC's set up (XP SP3) with UTP LAN.
Everything works fine, LAN connects correct, 100 MB/s, I can do file transfer, play music across the connection, use printer etc. BUT I cannot get AOE to JOIN an existing game. I can create a game on either PC and it will show up on the other one, but it refuses to actually join for gameplay. pls pls help

I has endless headaches trying to get it right. Will be watching to see suggestions.

make sure you have the patch installed - I think its the 1c version. Been ages since I played but I remember having this issue and the patch solved. This is assuming you running Conquerors?

Man alive! This is the last straw! I got to play it again. :D

Make sure you both have the same version, make sure your firewall is set to allow AoE. Make sure you have the correct IP address, I don't remember if you need a fixed IP.

Versions are the same, patch 1c has been installed on both systems, firewall has been set to allow AOE as exception...

What exactly do you mean by the "correct IP address" I have set 1 - 169.254.0.1 and 2 - 169.254.0.9
Should I use something else?

Soooo... I finally did what I probably shoulda done in the first place, I switched both firewalls off completely - and voila ! Instant gratification !! Like Whatsis said, "wololololoooo"
Thanks to all who tried to help !

Now for the next problem - I am playing against the missus - do I Kick Ass or Lose ( barely) This is gonna be a tough decision, believe you me.
