Just a quick question.

A while ago as some may remember, I asked if it is possible to view video feeds from more than 1 dvr on 1 screen. We have quite a large shop with lots of hide-away corners, so we need lots of cameras.

I'm still gathering info as I have time on this cctv systems. Today I thought of something. These dvr's have their own ip address, if I understand correct, so connecting from anywhere via network or internet is possible. So why can't I just open a web browser, and open a new tab for each dvr? Or if I want to view all on 1 screen, open a few browser windows, each opened on one dvr? Then I can size each browser so every thing fits on the screen.

I just opened a live demo on www.kguardsecurity.com, I opened 2 tabs on the same video, and it streamed perfect. And I mean that was over the internet, not even faster internal lan.

Something like this:

A multiplexer is normally used to combine multiple sources into one if you are still looking for a hardware solution.

Don't those units come with some sort of basic pc VMS software?

Load it up on your pc, connect to both DVR's and adjust your view as needed.

I googled it, cause I'm not familiar with this. It can work, the only downfall for me is the manual switching.

See the other thing I get to love more of this dvr way of doing things, is I, or maybe my wife even, can log in on any pc they want, and view what they need at the time. Maybe creating a few browser shortcuts for each dvr.

Yes I didn't think of that. I mean with our old system, which is a pc based system, there are 2 capture cards, both viewable at once on one window on Geovision. So maybe it will be possible?

All of the DVR's these days come with some sort of pc management software, even the really cheap nasty ones :)
