Howdy,

So I'm running two monitors, and every time they go into power saving mode, everything defaults to the primary monitor, which is quite annoying.

I've found a plugin for Firefox that can send windows to the secondary monitor with a click, but ultimately what I would like is for everything to just stay put, being:

Firefox split between the two monitors, with the secondary monitor splitting the FF window with a music app and some other apps in the background.

Any ideas on how to make this happen?

Thanks! :)

Don't know if this will solve your problem, but I've been using Display Fusion free version for a long time already. I often sleep or hibernate or power off, and the monitors come back exactly as I left them - I am not sure though about splitting one app (Firefox)across both screens.
Win 10 has a shortcut to move a windows from one monitor to the other, but personally I find the extra button that Display fusion adds to the top window bar to be more convenient.
Give it a try and let us know if it helps: https://www.displayfusion.com/

Just came here to say display fusion is the best I've seen. I run 4 monitors and I love to control what goes where, and with a little tinkering Displayfusion does exactly what I want.
Its definitely worth checking out, I have the paid for version and I haven't had any regrets at all

Alternatively Linux, it always always opens in the same place with the previous window size. Dunno why windows battles with this out of the box as it's damn annoying

I run Windows 10 with a triple monitor setup and don't have this issue so can't really suggest anything but just wanted to chime in that I don't think it's a Windows issue. What GPU are you using? Have all the latest drivers installed?

To be honest I never tried this on 10 but had the issue with 7, just for the record.

An RX480.

Thanks everyone, for the suggestions so far. :)

this is more likely a display and or graphics card driver issue as opposed to windows.. I run dual monitors on win 10 and do not have this issue at all..

out of interest, have you tried setting your display settings, i.e extend desktops through the graphics card driver control panel..? The driver may 'disconnect' the monitors when the computer sleeps, forcing Windows to re-determine where to place your windows when it comes back from sleep.. setting your display settings from the graphics card driver control panel may store the information..

Which monitors are you using? What display connections are those monitors using on your GPU?

I suspect it's the video driver.
Had the same issue on a Lenovo Carbon X1 laptop driving two external displays. A driver update a few back fixed it - now the system resumes without issue.

Windows 10 itself handles multiple monitors without issue. We have two people in the office who run quad monitors. No problems.
