Multiple monitors on a Macbook Pro

Can anyone help me. A friend wants to know if it is possilble to hook multiple monitors up to a Macbook Pro. I know you can drive a 30" Apple Monitor from a MBP and that theoretically means that you could connect multiple monitors up to it. But is it technically possible.

Its only got the one DVI out so I'm not sure how you would go about connecting a second external display.

EDIT - perhaps someone makes a ExpressCard/34 video adapter?
