Murderer allowed to play rugby

htf can someone convicted of murder be out on bail pending an appeal

surely he should be sitting in a freakin cell pending the appeal

i hope they lose their appeal and go to jail for 12 years, murder is murder and you must pay

I agree.

South Africa has too many murderers outside our prisons.

Bail conditions are set based on the circumstances. If you are a flight risk or a danger to yourself and others bail will not be granted. Previous record is taken into account.

Yes - it can go horribly wrong but our system is supposed to rather have 100 guilty go free than risk having 1 innocent locked up. Pity the odds have moved to 1000 guilty go free (if they even get that far)

Both this rugby player and Yengeni should be sitting in jail looking at the wall, and not out socialing with their friends.

Nowadays 12 years is a harsh sentence for murder.
He will be paroled after 3 years.
He might get another year remission for good conduct as this is his first offence.

Lol scary stuff, a friend of mine was declined a job coz he got locked up for spinning tyres at a robot...

tuff call that, especially if it got out to staff etc... Spose depends on position. Bit of a bugger on the CV with a 12year gap - ummm, I was finding myself... :o

on that topic, would a company hire a criminal? damn right they would, seems to be a pre-requisite for some ANC positions these days, not?
