Time for another of my "I don't know what to do with the veggies" thread :)

How do you prepare mushrooms?

I either cut them into a salad (raw), or sautee with butter, garlic and herbs.

I need new ideas, please.

damn, thought this thread was about hallucinogens, out i go

Braise with some onion, dried chillie, olive oil.

Add mushroom. Ground black pepper to flavour.

Add few more onions just before done .

Garnish with a dash of coriander.

A nice sauce that goes with baked spuds:

Slice the muchrooms, about a pack of them denny ones (dont know how mch that is sorry :O)
heat a knob of butter in a pan and fry the mushrooms until theyre dark and soft.
Add salt and pepper, I also like to add a littl curry paste sometimes,
Add about 100ml milk and about 250ml cream.
turn down the heat and simmer untill nice and thick. (about 15-20 min)
If I'm in a hurry I just leave out the milk and then add some Mazina once the whole lot is cooking, then it gets nice and thick in about 5 min.

Then you blather it over a nice medium rare steak or a baked potatoe! YUMMY.

Edit: Sometimes it gets too thick then I add milk to thin it again..
I have also done the whole thing with milk instead of cream (when times is hard) and its still good.

My dad told me when we lived in Durbz they could get mushrooms as big as a weber braai .

Needed: Fresh mushrooms
Good olive oil
Mozzarella
Salt and pepper
Italian herbs

Cut the mushrooms into fine slices and spread out on a oven proof plate. Pour some olive oil over and then add the salt and pepper and Italian herbs. Finally, sprinkle the cheese over it all and stick in the oven under the grill for between 5 and 10min, but keep an eye on them. The cheese must bubble and get a bit brown, but not burnt :)

Then serve hot with some fresh ciabatta!

Pretty sure you already asked this one blu.

Last time I answered Butter + Garlic + Lemon juice + dried onion. Whole story goes on braai.

There's a lot you can do with them. Do you want them to have a starring role or play a supporting act? What kind of mushrooms are you working with here? What are you planning to serve it with?
